Waszp Nationals
Over the 11-13 March SLMASC hosted the Waszp Nationals with 35 entrants from around Australia. Friday saw good winds and some exciting “foiling” racing and we managed to get four races in. On the Saturday the winds were less accommodating and we only got two slower races done. Sunday was better suited to water skiing and unfortunately no races were able to be sailed but overall the weekend was a success and all of the competitors were happy with the results.
Congratulations to the sailors and a big thanks to all of the volunteers who make these regattas possible.

Marine Outlet 74th Annual Regatta
SLMASC hosted its 74th annual regatta over the weekend of 12-13 February. There were 71 entries over the course of the weekend with 68 starters in each race, which was a fantastic turnout after a very quiet couple of covid seasons. There were many dinghy classes represented including Impulses, Mirrors, Spirals, VS, Skates, NS and Lasers.
Saturday’s race was looking like a challenge as all the boats left the shore in a wet, southerly squall but once it passed through it settled into a steady 15 knot south-easterly, which provided some exciting sailing. Sunday was looking like a day better-suited to waterskiing but luckily the sea breeze kicked in just in time to get a race away.
A big thank you to all the volunteers that make weekends like this possible and congratulations to all of the competitors. We look forward to seeing you all here next year to help celebrate the club’s 75th anniversary.
