Team SLMASC’s Night Before Christmas ….

1_Santa_Under_Sail

‘Twas seconds to the start, and all down the line,
Many boats were over, except, of course, mine.
Other skippers were cursing, and sounding most surly
With much screaming at bows: “We’re OVER EARLY!”

But we’re off, fast and clean, as we charged up the course.
Tacking on headers, without the slightest remorse.
And we made it look easy, as we stayed with each lift,
Our opponents behind us, this race is a gift!

The crew got quite giddy, as we charged further ahead,
With grand visions of glassware dancing in our heads,
And we shouted with glee as we crossed in first place,
Then I woke up and realised, I’d dreamt the whole the race!’

INTERCLUB AND KARL SCHNEIDER SERIES RACE 2 THIS SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER AT MPASC

ATTENTION ALL YACHT SAILORS:

Just a quick reminder that Race 2 of the SLMASC / MPASC interclub series is on this SATURDAY 13 December at MPASC. This race also forms race 2 of the SLMASC Karl Schneider Series, with SLMASC boats also racing for this prestigious trophy over the 4 race interclub series (SLMASC results are extracted from the interclub race and rescored separately using normal club TCF’s). As a result the interclub races have even more interest and significance this year with a race within a race, so there’s a double reason to get out on the water this Saturday!

With Team SLMASC having come out on top in race 1, with 3 races yet to be sailed we need to ensure a strong turnout for the Blue and Yellow in Race 2 to consolidate our early lead if we are to work towards reclaiming the Interclub trophy (and bragging rights) won by MPASC last year.

Boats racing this Saturday will need to ensure they have a copy of the current MPASC Sailing Instructions and courses (see link below or MPASC website) and also confirm your starting division (1 or 2) beforehand as per the Interclub Division Boat Listing on the yacht page of the club website (www.slmasc.org).

Please check your sailing instructions for starting proceedures and times …… but in summary, the start will be from the clock on top of the MPASC clubhouse, which will start counting down from 60 minutes at approximately 1.15pm.

  • Division 2 will start at the drop (removal) of 10 minutes from the clock (i.e. when number 9 appears).
  • Division 1 will start at the drop (removal) of 0 minutes on the clock.

FYI …. The club has a new stock of SLMASC club burgee’s available for just $5 each (kindly made by Bob Foster Industries ….. Thanks Bob ;-). We especially encourage all SLMASC boats racing in the interclub series, and also those thinking of joining the club cruise in late January, to grab a club burgee and fly it regularly with pride. If you want a burgee for Saturday’s race you can call into the club on Friday evening before/after the race and see Diana.

Document on the Yachts Page of our website.

We look forward to seeing you as part of Team SLMASC this Saturday.

Smooth (and FAST) Sailing to all,

Team SLMASC

PS: Note that due to the interclub race on Saturday there will be no yacht race at SLMASC this Sunday.
