2014 ZHIK Single Handed Regatta – Champion – Dave Lister

2014-15 ZHIK ZSHR Winner Dave Lister 1

After taking the Runner-Up position last year, Dave Lister has broken through to claim the 2014 ZHIK Single Handed Regatta on beautiful Lake Macquarie @ South Lake Macquarie Amateur Sailing Club.

Sailing a near faultless 5 races (with a slight hiccup in Race#2) Dave showed dogged determination to stand on the top step and be crowned 2014 ZSHR Champion. Well done Dave, see you next year.

With 50+ boats hitting the water in 3 Divisions, with State, National, World and Olympic Champions, racing was always going to be thrilling. With near perfect conditions on Day 1 and a nice Southerly (around 20+ knots) on Day 2, the competitors where going to have to sail extremely well to gain a good result.

  1. Dave Lister (Foiling Moth) – Champion
  2. Kurtis Warner (Foiling Moth)
  3. Scott Singleton-Turner (Laser 4.7)

With the big boys and girls tearing up the Southern part of Lake Macquarie our Juniors in the Opti’s and Sabots sailing a course set by Adam Beashel provided that fun (in some cases mayhem) was the main ingredient in a close race series of 3 races where there was a different winner in each race. Congratulations to our top 3 overall place-getters.

  • Jack Hildebrand (Opti)
  • Adam Singleton-Turner (Sabot)
  • Tahnie Caldecoat (Opti)

Well done to all sailors, it was a pleasure once again to have you and we look forward to you all returning to Sunshine next year.

Final Results will be posted on the Dinghy’s Page of our website.

IMPORTANT: Amendment 1 to Yacht Sailing Instructions

Attention all Yacht sailors:

Note that Amendment 1 to the SLMASC Yacht Sailing instructions has been issued and takes effect immediately. The amendment can be found on the Yacht page of the club website, and it defines the class flag to be used for committee boat scratch starts for yachts, as well as revising several of the twilight courses for both Divisions 1 and 2 as well as the Sunday courses.

Please ensure that you print off the new course sheets NOW and update the copies on your boat ready for this weekend so you don’t get caught going the wrong way.

If you have any questions in relation to these changes, please contact the SLMASC Yachting coordinator (John Mason) or a member of the sailing committee.
