Changes to MPASC Sailing Instructions

Just a quick reminder that the 1st interclub race between SLMASC and MPASC is on this Saturday hosted by Mannering Park and will be sailed under MPASC SIs.

There has been a change to MPASC SIs concerning Starting times and Starting Procedures, making the start a shore based start using a count down clock.

Below is a copy of the starting times which states that the clock is started at 60 minutes at approximately 1:15 pm. This will have Division 2 starting at the drop of 10 minutes (approx. 2:05 pm) and Division 1 at the drop of zero minutes (approx. 2:15 pm).

PLEASE READ the changes to the Sailing Instructions on the YACHTS page of the SLMASC website. Changes can be found under the heading MPASC Sailing Instructions 2013 – 2014 Change 001 updated October 2013

Interclub Events
Division 2 at the drop (removal) on the clock of 10 minutes
Division 1 at the drop (removal) on the clock of 0 minutes

The clock will be started at 60 minutes at approximately 1.15 pm

A copy of your boats division is also available on the EVENTS page of the SLMASC website. Hover your mouse over the EVENTS icon and a dropdown menu will appear, Click on SLMASC / MPASC Interclub Series and you will be directed to INTERCLUB SERIES page. To find your division see SLMASC / MPASC Interclub Race #1 Divisions. Click this link.

The division allocated to your boat is for starting purposes only (staggered start) and to save confusion this season we are allowing both divisions to fly spinnakers and with that we are reverting back to a combined fleet score not a division score.

We hope to see as many boats there as possible, so if your boat is not listed on the division sheet and you are planning to sail please contact the club at racing@slmasc.org ASAP so we can allocate your boat a starting time.

See you all on the water Saturday.

Make sure that you have your MPASC sailing instructions with you, and any further details will be published during this week.

Position Vacant …. apply within

Do you like sailing and are you good with Hooters?

The club is looking for someone (or perhaps several people) who may be interested in taking on or perhaps sharing the roll of Race Officer (Starter/Finisher) for Friday twilight racing this season.

If you know of someone who may be suited to the roll and interested, then please email racing@slmasc.org or call 0438 724599 to discuss.

Training can be provided and if you can’t be on the water racing, then this roll allows you to be actively involved in the sailing action while having the best view of the lake from up in the judges box on top of the club.

Inexperience need not be a concern as training and assistance with course selection can be provided where needed. We can also arrange for full Yachting Australia Race Officer Training to be provided (1 day course).

If we are unable to fill the position then a yacht duty roster will be implemented over the coming weeks to allocate Race Officer duties to individual SLMASC yachts who will be expected to perform these duties on average once during the season.

We thank Chris Cook for her dedication to the roll over many years and hope that she is still able to assist throughout the season when her work schedule permits.
