Race 2 of the Yacht Interclub Series is just over a week away, and after a hard fought battle in Race 1, there are just a couple of points separating MPASC and SLMASC in the overall series point score. Race 2 which is to be hosted by MPASC next Saturday 24th of November, will be sailed on the longer ‘Marathon’ courses for both divisions, with the race starting from 1.00pm at MPASC.
Interclub races hosted by MPASC will be sailed under MPASC Sailing Instructions which are available from the MPASC website (www.manneringparkasc.org.au). If you have any difficulty accesing these sailing instructions, please email us and we will arrange to get a copy to you. It is recommended that all SLMASC skippers study these SI’s closely to familiarise themselves with the MPASC courses and other requirements.
Team SLMASC needs as many yachts as possible to start in Race 2 to help turn the tide, so lock in the date and organise your crew now. Even if you didn’t sail in race 1 you can still join the team and your score still counts towards the interclub series. There are both spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker divisions with Non-Spinnaker sailing a shorter course, so if you did not enter for race 1, you will need to email us at slmasc@hotmail.com by Tuesday to confirm your boats entry details and confirm which division you plan to start in (so that the handicappers can weave their magic).
As usual, a social BBQ and presentation will be held ashore at MPASC after the race, with a shuttle boat available to ferry crews to/from their yachts.
It’s sure to be another great day of close racing and friendly interclub rivalry both on and off the water, so make sure you’re part of Team SLMASC and help retain the trophy for another year..
