Yacht Race at MPASC this Saturday

Just a reminder that the yacht division is racing at MPASC this SATURDAY. With a Marathon course to be sailed this week, starting will be off the clock at MPASC which will be set to count down from 60 minutes at 12.15pm with the scratch boats starting at 1.15pm.

Note that while the program indicates that this Saturday is a scratch race, it is infact a Staggered Start (not a Handicap Start) with boats starting times being shown on the yacht page under ‘Starting Times – MPASC Races’ – SLMASC Boat Starting Times for MPASC races. Note that these allocated starting times are not your handicap for the race, but are just used to allow slower boats to start earlier so that all boats finish closer together. Sailing times will be adjusted for these staggered starting times before the TCF’s are then applied to get each boats Corrected Time, which is then used to determine the placings in the race (just as occurs for traditional Scratch Races …. hence the terminolgy used in the program).

There has been some confusion re the wording used in the club program to decscibe the various race formats and it is accepted that these need to be improved to help clarify the week to week schedule and race formats. This will be addressed ASAP and a new version of the program posted on the website shortly ,,,,, apologies for any confusion.

If you have any questions …. please contact racing@slmasc.org

Smooth Sailing
